As I
write this the winds of March are blowing and here at the church we
are experiencing the wind of the Holy Ghost blowing in the midst.
As I think of how the natural winds blow away staleness, I
appreciate how the spiritual wind of God can remove the staleness
from us.
The wife, about
this time every year, exclaims how she can't wait to be able to open
the windows of the house to air out the staleness of being shut up
for so long in winter. We also should open ourselves up to have the
Spirit of the Holy Spirit to blow the staleness from our souls.
We can become
stagnant and stale in our Christian walk causing us to become
complacent along with taking our salvation for granted. With seeing
the Holy Ghost and His spirit move upon so many in the congregation,
it stirs up an excitement within me. Being there when one receives
of the Baptism, as He breathes into them a new breath of the Spirit,
should cause each one of us to desire a new filling.
There is but one
Baptism according to Eph 4:5 but there are many infillings or
refreshings. If you have received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost but
have not exercised this great gift from God or allowed Him to
manifest Himself in you then you need to pray for a refreshing of
that Gift. As we allow this, the Holy Ghost, to be refreshed in us
and as the move of the wind of Pentecost blows in our presence this
will cause those that have yet to receive this wonderful experience
to desire it.
God does not want
to come back for a stale and mediocre church. He is expecting one
that is set on fire and vibrant in the Spirit. As we can see the
wind move dirt and debris from one place to another the wind of the
Holy Ghost can do this in our lives and then burn those unclean
things up with the fire of Pentecost.
Staleness and
stagnation means death - nothing moving - but with the circulation
of air, life is there and with the circulation of the Spirit, new
life will be brought to sinners that live in a dead spiritual
world. Why keep breathing the same stale spiritual air? Allow the
wind of the Holy Ghost to blow upon you and bring a refreshing to
your soul just as opening the windows of your house in spring brings
pleasant, fresh, invigorating smells to your home.
You talk about a
new sweet smelling potpourri, just let the Holy Ghost remove all
that spiritual staleness about you and people will be drawn to you
because of the freshness of God that is in your life. Not only
this, but your testimony will become vibrant and alive again as you
desire once again to share what the good Lord has done in your
life. Paul said to Timothy "Stir up the gift that lies within you"
(2 Tim. 1:6).
Thank You Lord
for the moving of the Holy Ghost in our midst and we embrace Him.
