If You Had the Key...

2nd Qtr. 2008

I heard it said one time, that if you had the only key to the church, would it be open? What a thought in the day that individualism is at an all time high.
Many today only think of the pleasures that they can obtain for themselves without being bothered with others or putting forth any efforts.  If we had the only key would we be too tired or busy to open the door so others could come to worship, to find help at a low time of their life, or would we just close out the needs of others?
Jesus came and died for us because He knew He had the only key that could open a door of hope that mankind could be saved.  What if He had took the idea that nope, I am not going to do this?  It is going to cause me to have to put myself out, I won't be doing my own thing, it will even cost me my life.  No, I am just too busy enjoying life to attend to others and even though I have the only key sorry about your luck.
How sad this would have been and yes, He was only one person but how important that one person is.  The devil tells us the same thing, your just one person, it won't matter, but what if everyone felt the same way?  All of a sudden one is a large number.
We are like a puzzle, those that attend church, and when one is missing it just isn't complete.  What if the piece that was missing held the key to the whole picture, do you see how important just one is?
Jesus knew that He was that key piece in the lives of mankind so He came and attended to the need.  We the same way must come to the realization that without our attendance to the house of God there would be no church.  You can see the key to this word is U.  Where will the sinner and the wayward go if there is not church for them to hear and see God and meet Him?
So, the next time you feel that I am just one and don't matter, ask yourself this; If I have the only key to the church, will we be meeting there today or will there be a closed sign on the door?
