He That Hath an Ear...

4th Qtr. 2007

Several times in chapters two and three in the Book of Revelation, there is a powerful statement:  HE THAT HATH AN EAR, LET HIM HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT SAITH UNTO THE CHURCHES.
Recently I came across a story and this is how it went:
Once there was a man that dared God to speak. "Burn the bush like you did for Moses, God, and I will follow. Collapse the walls like you did for Joshua, God, and I will follow. Still the waves like you did on Galilee, God, and I will listen. And so the man sat by a bush, near a wall, close to the sea, and waited for God to speak.

And God heard the man, so God answered.
He sent fire, not for a bush, but for a church.
He brought down a wall, not of brick, but of sin.
He stilled a storm, not of the sea, but of a soul.

And God waited for the man to respond...and He waited...and He waited...and waited.

But because the man was looking at bushes, not hearts; bricks and not lives; seas and not souls, he decided that God had done nothing. Finally he looked to God and asked, "Have you lost your power?" And God looked at him and said, "Have you lost your hearing?"

Just because we are looking for God, and listening for God in our way, does not mean that He will do it. God's ways are of the Spirit, and if we as men and women are going to ever see or hear from God, or discern what He is doing, we must enter into the Spirit realm of God.
How we do this is by yielding our bodies as living sacrifices unto Him, and live in His word.  When we begin to do this, we will stop looking at things through a fleshly eye. We will begin to see and hear things with an eye and ear of the Spirit.
God's will is that we commune with Him. That is why His son game His life on Calvary, the veil that once separated us from God was torn asunder. We now can talk to God and hear Him personally if we will give ourselves enough time to listen. God speaks to us in many different ways; through His Word, through dreams, through Nature. We must always be ready to hear from Him.
When you hear that still small voice in the night, or that strum of the strings of your heart, be as Samuel was and say, "Here am I Lord, Your servant hears You." Then respond to what God would tell you, and your life will be fuller, richer, and you will go deeper in the Spirit with Him.
